Plug and Play Wearable Enclosure Mount

Description:

Plug and Play Wearable Enclosure Mount

Overview of Technology

A mount as part of the smart sock that attaches hardware to the product

Background of Technology

This product is a component of a “smart sock” that can be used in athletics and lab testing. The product could be valuable to wearable device companies as a user-friendly mounting mechanism for hardware technologies. The product improves upon other mounting methods in its intuitive and quick approach to hardware mounting. The deficiency in this product is that it is bulky, however, this is mainly due to the wire management system housed in this product. In a commercial application, this would most likely not be an issue, for the wire management would be implemented elsewhere.

Technology Description

A 3D printed mount for attaching hardware enclosure to the “smart sock”. The product allows the enclosure to easily attach to the sock with only a single pin header, as opposed to the previous method where each sensor was connected individually.

Benefits

  • Easy attachment of hardware

Applications

This product is most useful in lab applications however could be commercialized in the wearable device field.

Opportunity

Further development opportunities arise in order to reduce the footprint and increase ergonomics
