MO+RE House Modular Housing System
Description:
Overview of Technology
MO+RE House is a new system for affordable, resilient, flexible, more sustainable single family housing using offsite construction and newly developed materials from local sources.
Background
There are many mobile and modular home concepts which compete with this project partially, however the intent is to exploit a niche that seems to exist between the two disparate
markets
Technology Description
Using a new type of thin Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panels and built on a grid, the system is intended for a hybrid construction method where all interiors and structure are constructed off-site, while exterior insulation, finish, and any exterior appurtenances are installed on-site. Allowing for centralized manufacturing and transportation with no special Federal or State DOT permits.
Opportunity
This is particularly advantageous in areas with a shortage of skilled building trades, such as rural areas. It is also advantageous for owners of property in developed areas who do not want to undergo a protracted construction process on their site.
